Today was not a very good day. I really thought it had potential.
My afternoon class was cancelled, so I only had to show up at the Child Study Center for my morning lab. (Basically, it's a "lab" where I get to hang out with some super awesome kiddos...and take notes.)
Each week, we are assigned a different "job" in the classroom, and I had snack this week. This requires doing dishes at the end of the lab which is something I always dread. Well, somehow along the way I volunteered myself to do not only my dishes, but also the dishes from the other classroom as well. In the process of doing my good deed for the day, I had a freak incident with the sink plug getting stuck in the sink. It was vacuum tight! I spent the next half hour pouring water into the other sink with a little cup until I could finally wrestle the plug out with some force.
Minus this little delay, I figured I was doing okay for the day.
Then I decided that since it was such a lovely day out (better than most we've had) I would walk back to my apartment instead of taking the bus. I felt much better when I got back after having walked off any frustrations from my lab.
Here's where it goes from tolerable to embarrassing. I never never never never never forget my seat belt, but on this particular evening, my brain apparently had too much happy gas from the aforementioned walk. And the one time I forgot, I received a little ticket from Officer Kyle reminding me to put it on next time. It was SO embarrassing. The first ticket I've ever gotten.
A little while later, I was at a store when the song "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter came over the radio. She has claimed it to be our song of the day (with some not so happy experiences of her own today as well.)
Needless to say, I came back home, took an online exam, and ate some cookie dough.

One lump of sugar or two?
I've only got time for a super short post today because I'm battling midterms this week. It's going to be a long week, but at least I'm one day closer to break!
One of my friend's showed me this video. It's so funny that I had to share.

Buttons buttons buttons!
I had such a great weekend! I managed to catch up on a lot of rest which is good considering I will have plenty of nights this week with only a little sleep.
Today I was inspired by Whimsy Girl to make one of these. So so cute. This is my take:
I can't wait to make more!

Happy fish friday
It's the first Friday of lent and for me that means fish fry season has begun. Here in the Midwest, they pop up like weeds in every church, fire station, and community center at this time of year. Personally, I am not a fan, but my nephew loves them. Just at the mere mention of a fish fry, his face lights up. of course, the down side of this is that he won't stop talking about the fish fry until you take him to one. oh what fun...
my own Friday has been rather uneventful except for the unfortunate turnaround in the temperature. we had 50 degree temps yesterday and today it snowed. Nothing quite like that Indiana weather.
I'm in for a night of watching 'Dead poet society'. Awesome movie if you haven't seen it!

Should've gone
The other night, my roommate and I went to a local library so that I could finish an assignment for class. Now, normal people would probably assume we went to the library for the quiet, academic like atmosphere.
Nay my friend, nay.
My assignment required me to stalk observe parenting in a public place. I chose the library, thinking I'd surely find some 5 year old having a major meltdown in the kid's section.
Well, no such luck. No major breakdowns. No child running around playing 'keep away'. All I found was a boy who kept whacking himself in the head.
It was the library after all. The institution probably responsible for the very first "shush".
I should've gone to Wal-mart.

My Valentine
Happy Love Day!
This has never been one of my favorite holidays, but for some reason this year I was totally drawn in to all of the reds and pinks and hearts!
My nephews and I even made special cookies to mark the occasion.
And if you're feeling a little woozy from a chocolate coma, here's a video by one of my favorite music artists to cheer you up!

Paraskevidekatriaphobia
I hope you don't have paraskevidekatriaphobia aka fear of Friday the 13th.
I'm not superstitious really, but I've been wary of this day ever since I had a really bad experience on Friday the 13th during my summer job.
That being said, I'm super excited that it's Friday! At my school, we have a superhero of sorts of who make Fridays better. He arrives around noon on campus, driving around on his little motorized scooter. His name is Scooter Bob and he is Happy Friday Guy!
So, no matter if you spend today watching Friday the 13th movies, celebrating anti-valentines day. or just kicking up your feet and enjoying the beginning of the weekend, I hope you have a happy Friday!

High five man
school has been keeping me busy this week! oh well, such is the life of a college student.
i think my 8 a.m. class would be a lot easier to show up for if i were greeted on my way to campus like these people were at this ungodly hour..

An ode of detestation
Dear Monday,
I have tried so hard to be one of your adoring fans. You know, the ones who dote on you and tell you how much they love you? They fawn over you like a devoted parent would. Despite my best efforts to jump on the bandwagon, I have only been able to grab hold of the bumper before taking in a mouthful of gravel.
You've never been all that kind to me anyway. In fact, most of the bad things that have happened to me, have happened on a Monday. It seems to me that you have a twisted sense of pleasure.
Well, you got me Monday. I am finally giving up the unrealistic vision I have of you, me, rainbows, and unicorns.
If you need me, I'll be enjoying myself on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Sincerely {not} yours,
Nicole
